Commercial Banking Index Analysis: QFL, Reversal Zones & Pennant Setup

The Commercial Banking Index is trading inside an important long-term consolidation structure on the monthly chart. This analysis covers the previous supply and QFL structure, the support-resistance interchange, two possible reversal zones and the recently formed pennant — and explains why engulfing confirmation on the 1D, 3D and 1W charts matters before either scenario is trusted.

Commercial Banking Index Market Analysis: Current Technical Setup

The Commercial Banking Index is currently trading inside an important long-term consolidation structure. This monthly analysis focuses on the relationship between the previous supply and demand structure, QFL, support-resistance interchange, two possible reversal zones, and the recently formed pennant pattern.

Because this analysis is based on the 1-month timeframe, the setup may take considerable time to develop. It should therefore be treated as a long-term market structure rather than a short-term prediction.

Previous Supply & QFL Structure

The first important part of the chart is the previous supply structure. During the earlier bearish move, price moved below the previous QFL — Quantity Following Line and eventually reached the lower support area.

This move brought the Banking Index toward the major SR Interchange Zone.

The structure suggests that the previous market reaction was not random. Price moved from the higher supply area toward an important historical support level before the next major bullish phase developed.

Support-Resistance Interchange: The Key Structural Level

The lower highlighted area represents an important Support-Resistance Interchange. Historically, this area acted as resistance. Later, after price moved above it, the same level began behaving as support.

This is important because previous resistance turning into support can create a structurally significant reaction area.

During the recent bullish phase, price again reacted strongly from this broader demand/support region.

Previous Demand Repeated

Another important observation is the relationship between the previous supply and the demand structure that followed it. After the earlier selling phase, demand developed around the lower structural area and eventually produced a major bullish move.

A similar demand reaction appeared again during the recent bullish move from the 2024 area.

This does not guarantee that history will repeat exactly, but it provides a useful structural reference for the current market.

Current Market: Consolidation

The Banking Index is currently moving sideways. Price has been compressing inside a narrowing structure rather than developing a clean directional trend. This creates a consolidation zone.

The most important question now is not simply whether the market is bullish or bearish.

The more useful question Which side of the current consolidation will gain control, and will that move receive confirmation?

Two Main Scenarios for the Banking Index

The current structure creates two important possibilities. In both cases, the reversal zone only tells us where to pay attention — engulfing confirmation is needed before the reaction is trusted.

Scenario 1
Bullish move toward the upper reversal zone

If the index turns bullish from the current consolidation, price may move toward the upper reversal zone, which could act as resistance. A move upward should not automatically be treated as a complete bullish breakout. Around the upper zone, watch for selling pressure and a Negative / Bearish Engulfing pattern.

Consolidation→Bullish expansion→Upper reversal zone→Bearish engulfing→Possible sell-side reaction
Scenario 2
Bearish move toward the lower reversal zone

If price breaks toward the downside, the lower reversal area becomes important. The market may move into this zone before buyers attempt to regain control. The zone itself is not enough — a Positive / Bullish Engulfing pattern should develop around it.

Consolidation→Bearish expansion→Lower reversal zone→Bullish engulfing→Possible bullish reversal

Reversal Zone Does Not Mean Guaranteed Reversal

This is one of the most important parts of the analysis. A reversal zone does not mean that price reaches the zone and must reverse. The market may reach the area and continue straight through it.

A strong Volume Burst can also invalidate or push price beyond a projected reversal zone. That is why confirmation is necessary.

Remember The zone tells us where to pay attention. The candlestick and market structure tell us whether the reaction is actually developing.

Confirmation Timeframes: Why Use 1D, 3D and 1W

Because the main analysis is built on the 1-month chart, waiting only for another monthly candle would make confirmation very slow. For more detailed confirmation, lower timeframes can be used.

These timeframes can help identify whether buyers or sellers are actually taking control around the major monthly reversal areas.

Engulfing Confirmation at Each Reversal Zone

If price reaches the lower reversal zone, look for a Positive / Bullish Engulfing pattern together with signs of bullish market structure.

If price reaches the upper reversal zone, look for a Negative / Bearish Engulfing pattern together with evidence that buyers are losing momentum.

Pennant Pattern: Watch the First Breakout

The recent consolidation has also created a pennant-style structure. Price is gradually compressing inside the narrowing range, which means the market is building pressure before the next larger directional move.

However, I would be careful about immediately trusting the first breakout. Within my analysis framework, I prefer to watch whether the first move becomes a false expansion before the stronger directional move develops.

If price breaks upward first, I would still watch for rejection and a possible move back down. Similarly, if price breaks downward first, I would watch whether the breakdown fails and price reverses bullish.

In my observation of this setup, the initial breakout can sometimes act as a false move before the stronger directional move develops. The first move should therefore be observed rather than automatically chased.

HiddenBull NEPSE View on the Banking Index

The Commercial Banking Index is currently sitting inside an important long-term consolidation structure, and two major scenarios remain open. The pennant structure makes the next expansion important, but the first move should not automatically be trusted.

Bullish ScenarioCurrent Zone → Bullish Move → Upper Reversal Zone → Watch for Resistance / Bearish Confirmation
Bearish ScenarioCurrent Zone → Bearish Move → Lower Reversal Zone → Watch for Bullish Engulfing / Reversal Confirmation
Watch the breakout. Watch the reversal zone. Check the volume. Wait for engulfing confirmation. Then follow the structure.
